If you are registered for the 24 Hour Challenge or will be signing
your team up, please read the following message.

Guidelines:
The official guidelines for the challenge will be posted on the A3F
web site (24 Hour page) at 12noon on Saturday and sent out in an
email blast. Remember to REFRESH your BROWSER when checking the A3F
web site or the page will not look like it's been updated!

Your film should center around the given Theme. The Line of Dialogue
needs to be said or viewed as subtitles (if your movie is in Spanish
for example or a silent film) at some point in your film. It has to
be said/written word for word. The Prop will have an action assigned
to it, so make sure you use the prop accordingly.

Rules:
• Films must be 1-5 min length, this includes opening/closing credits.
• All music and footage must be owned by you or you have permission
to use it. No copyrighted songs or soundtracks. Use IBAudio.com or
a similar site, hire a composer or band, score it yourself.
• Films must be turned in by 12 noon at Zoes Kitchen at 521 West
MCDowell, Phoenix 85003. No traffic excuses, rendering problems, dog
ate my tape. Late films will not be eligible for the Top 20 Screening.
• Out of town filmmakers (This is for people living in Tucson or
Flagstaff, all other valley residents need to come to Zoes), you must
send your film (according to directions on the web site) by 12 noon.
I must have an email from you marked before noon. Use rapidshare.com
or yousendit.com or your own server.
• Please turn in your film on mini-dv or DVD-/+R. Films can be 4:3
or 16:9 (DO NOT LETTERBOX YOUR FILMS IF SHOT IN WIDESCREEN). If you
shoot HD or HDV, please down-convert to SD. You can also submit HDV
films on mini-dv (but also include a SD copy in case of compatibility
issues with my equipment).
• Please mark your tapes or DVD's with: Team Name, Title, 4:3, 16:9
or 16:9 anamorphic, Running Length, and Comedy or Drama.
• Adult language, violence or even nudity is allowed, however, use
discretion in that if it doesn't enhance your film or further your
story-line, don't include it. Slasher films or extreme violence (for
the heck of it) will not score well.

How to Win:
Story is King! Keep your story simple and effective. Don't try to
do too much, you only have 24 hours! Make sure your sound quality is
good too and if George Clooney or Halle Berry happen to be at the
local coffee shop, put them in your film! :)

Zoes Kitchen & Post Party:
Please encourage your cast and crew to join you at Zoes Kitchen for
the post party. This will be a great time to relax, reflect and talk
with other filmmakers who just went through what you did! The Team
Leader from each group will receive a coupon for a free lunch off the
menu at Zoes. (This is good for Sunday only during the post-party).
Everyone else can order off the menu and I believe there will also be
some free Zoes cake floating around!!! And music will be provided by
Brant Phillip ... so come enjoy this festive atmosphere!

Team Leaders, please email me an approximate head count of who will
be coming to Zoes with you on Sunday so we can be prepared with food...

Public Screenings:
Once the films have been judged and scored, the Top 20 films (in no
particular order) will be posted on the A3F web site, hopefully by
October 13. At that time, you can purchase tickets if your team
makes the Top 20 screening (tickets are on sale now on the web
site). Each Team receives 2 free tickets to the Top 20 Screening.
There will also be a Honorable Mentions screening for films 21-40 on
October 18 at AMC Arizona Center 24 Theatres at 5:30 p.m. More info
for this screening and how to get tickets will be announced on the 13th.

Kick-off Party and Mixer:
Be sure to attend the kick-off party for the A3F All-Stars this
Friday at Majerle's from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Free appetizers,
networking with actors, actresses and crew members (for those teams
still looking for cast/crew) and just a chance to get jazzed up for
Saturday! And who knows, I might just reveal one of your guidelines
if the mood hits me:)

Sorry for all the information, but I want to make sure everyone is
prepared and set for this incredible 24 Hour Experience! Email with
any questions or you can reach me at 602.295.3147. Good Luck!!!
